Ordinary Ethics: Governing AI from the Ground Up
Ranjit Singh is the Director of the AI on the Ground program at Data & Society Research Institute, where he oversees research on the social impacts of algorithmic systems, AI governance in practice, and methods for organizing public engagement and accountability.
His research focuses on how people live with and make sense of AI, examining how algorithmic systems and everyday practices shape one another. He holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Cornell University, where his dissertation focused on Aadhaar, India’s biometrics-based national identification system. He was named to Business Insider’s AI 100 list in 2023 and co-edited ‘Parables of AI in/from the Majority World: An Anthology.’
